Can this be used as a regular power drill for drilling holes in walls to hang pictures or putting furniture together? Confused by the "hammer" part.

if you don't absolutely need the hammer function, it's probably better to get a Ryobi plain drill/driver from HD. This one is $59 https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI.../326680222. Yeah it doesn't have a 1/2" metal chuck but tbh it will be fine for hanging pictures and putting together IKEA furniture, and it's a step into a large ecosystem with lots of upgrade opportunities.
If you do need the hammer function, you probably want to look at a more serious brand and tool anyway.

Yeah it can. It can also be used for other things. I use mine to mix cookie dough and brownie batter with an inexpensive stainless steel beater you can buy, also use it for cleaning with several cleaning brush attachments.

Disagree. That Ryobi is a cheap tool with a brushed motor and 1.5Ah battery. While certainly not high-end, this is brushless and certainly a step up in quality. On top of that, it has a 2Ah battery and a hammer function which can come in handy if you ever need to drill in masonry.

I have a cheap Porter Cable assortment of brushed tools and got a Greenworks drill free with a lawn mower purchase. It works great and I'm very happy with the quality. Considering buying this as well just for the hammer function.

I've been using their 40v string trimmer, vacuum, and roller mower, so far so good.

Ryobi is 18v (5x 18650 cells), this is 24v (6x 18650 cells) plus brushless. I would expect at least 30% - 40% more power than Ryobi.

Ryobi impact driver has a lot of strength. I've used it to screw into concrete. Did not need hammer drill.

Did you drill holes? I recently did a home project and had to drill holes in block and hardiboard; it was a royal pain until I borrowed my neighbor's hammer drill.

Anyone know if it actually comes with the battery? Based on some of the questions people say it did not.

Yup. And Ryobi days is only a few days away. They usually give you a couple of free batteries and a charger with a purchase of a tool.
